It is the eternal search: a magical plan to lose weight. Atkins diet. Slim fast. Juice cleanses. Diet pills. Weight watchers. The list goes on and on…

However, according to the latest research published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, there is great news for people who are interested to lose weight – and do so in a healthy way. This comprehensive survey of weight loss strategies revealed what really works: eating less and moving more.

Although it may be obvious, few people seem to follow this age-old advice. Moreover, as the science shows, eating less and moving more is by far the most effective way to lose weight – and keep it off over the long term.

So avoid the fads and use some common sense. That is not to say that every day will be easy or that your body will transform overnight. But if you are mindful, and eat sensible food in modest portions – and combine that with regular exercise, you are bound to see results.

The recipe is quite simple. Eat real food – meat and fish, fruits and vegetables, bread and cheese. Consume reasonable portions. Cut down on the candies, soda and junk food. And workout regularly at least three times a week. Before you know it, you will be seeing great results!
