Bio:

To stay sane while working years at a corporate 9-5 (but let’s be real, it was more of a 9-7), I weaved Pilates into my weekly (if not daily) routine. I had recently moved to the Flatiron/Nomad area and was trying out a new studio when the most fabulous instructor— Marina— came over during class and asked if I was an instructor! I laughed, replied no, but the rest of the day I kept thinking about the question. I then asked myself, well why not? I dove in head first, started my education program with Balanced Body, and never looked back. When I’m not in the studio, I can be found with my husband, walking our perfect pooch Winston around town.

Q&A:

Q: What is your favorite healthy snack and favorite meal?
TA: My favorite snack is an apple with almond butter. Clean and simple! The high fiber content from the apple keeps me full and the almond butter provides me with a good dose of healthy fats. My favorite meal is anything at an Italian restaurant (carbs, cheese, wine, what more could you want?).

Q: What is your favorite skincare line right now and do you have a routine that you would like to share? Most essential skin care tip? Answer any or all of the above!
TA: No matter how tired or lazy I feel, I will always wash my face before bed with a vegetable based cleanser; apply a toner (P50V addict); and finish with a binding moisturizer.

Q: Do you have a wellness secret?
TA: Not so much of a secret, but more of a recommendation. Take a step back. I think it’s important to find what works for your body. Everyone is different, has different needs and goals, and there are so many options out there. Test out different products until you find what works for you and makes you feel like your best and most confident self.

Q: There are so many smoothie varieties out there! What do you put in your favorite smoothie?
TA: Post workout, my go-to smoothie is a Vanilla Protein from Juice Press. If I find myself somewhere else, I’ll always be sure to add a plant based protein (like pea) for muscle recovery and to keep me feeling satisfied.

Q: What is your favorite meal to cook?
TA: My husband and I are always trying new recipes. I follow a plant based diet, so I’ve been experimenting with cauliflower tacos… pretty good!

Q: What are some activities you like to do outside of Pilates?
TA: I like to set and achieve goals—so I’m currently working hard on my running abilities. But you can always find me taking my dog on long walks.

Q: Did you always have an interest in health and wellness?
TA: Not really. I was always active growing up and on sports teams in High School. As I got older and the demands of life and work started taking over, it became harder and harder to find time for myself and fitness. When I was getting married and life got even busier, I made a conscious effort to take time for myself mentally and physically. Pilates became a part of my weekly routine and kept my head on straight literally and figuratively!

Q: What do you typically eat for breakfast?
TA: Coffee. And an RX Bar. And then more coffee. (I wish I had time to sit down and enjoy a more balanced meal, but I’m always on the go…)

Q: What is your favorite indulgence?
TA: Anything with cheese. Mac and cheese, pizza, wine and cheese, just cheese…

Q: What are three essential items you have in your bag?
TA: Phone. Wallet. Chapstick.

Q: Favorite quote:
TA: I don’t understand the question and I won’t respond to it. (Any Arrested Development fans reading this?)
